Federal Pacific Electrical Hazards
Federal Pacific Electric "Stab-Lok" service breakers and panels can fail to trip in situations of overcurrents leading to electrical fires. These breakers may fail to internally shut down or "trip" even in an "off" position. This can occur more than 50% of the time, thus resulting in electrical shocks or fires. Some 240 volts FPE circuit breakers and 120 volt breakers are not safe. Reports of arcing and panel-bus fires have been documented.
Generator Safety
Generators are used to supply electricity when a loss of power occurs. Multiple variables dictate the amount of electricity that can be supplied by the generator. These can include: the size of the generator, the electrical load of appliances (refrigerator, fans, air-conditioning unit, etc.), and the size of the electrical service that supplies the home. Generators are wonderful devices in times of power loss, but they can be dangerous.
Zinsco Electrical Panels
When researching electrical hazards on the internet, Zinsco or Zinsco-Sylvania products have been cited multiple times. There have been several hazards regarding Zinsco electrical components, circuit breakers and electrical panels. This includes Sylvania electrical panels and breakers which are of the same product design and origin.
